If your fountain pen feels difficult to write with,
or won’t write at all,
let us handle the repair for you.

We accept repairs for damaged pens, whether you’ve dropped your fountain pen or it was accidentally mishandled by a child.
In many cases, even a bent nib can be restored to working condition.
We also offer adjustments to writing feel and nib width to suit your preferences.

For vintage fountain pens, repairs may sometimes be difficult due to unavailable parts. However, please don’t give up—feel free to contact us first.

What is nib adjustment?

If your fountain pen doesn’t release ink smoothly at the start, or tends to skip while writing, a proper nib adjustment can restore a smooth and effortless writing experience.

For Left-Handed Writers Too!

Have you given up on using fountain pens just because you’re left-handed?
At The Nib Shaper, we adjust nibs so that they write smoothly whether you push, pull, or even write in reverse. Left-handed writers can use our pens without any issues—and many left-handed customers have already enjoyed our service.

Nib Width Adjustment

Do you find your nib too broad to write comfortably? Western-made fountain pens are often designed for writing the alphabet, so they may not feel as smooth as Japanese pens when writing in other scripts. By narrowing the nib width, your pen can feel much easier to use.

* Please note: We only offer adjustments from broader nibs to finer nibs. Making a fine nib broader requires adding new metal, which we do not provide.

We also offer specialty nib grinds

We grind standard specialty profiles such as Stub, Italic, and Arabic (Farsi).
We also offer the following signature grinds.

Signature Nib Grinds

Kodachi Point

Line width varies with writing angle. Its distinctive geometry suits kanji and calligraphy, delivering a notably smooth writing feel.

Beak Point

The nib curves downward like a bird’s beak—fine in normal orientation and ultra-broad when reverse-written.

Fude Point

Offers dramatic line-width variation and produces strokes like a calligraphy brush.

Needle Point

An ultra-extra-fine grind taken to the limit—fine enough to write four characters inside a single 2 mm grid square.

If you have a specific writing feel you’d like for your fountain pen, please feel free to contact us.
It might even spark the creation of a brand-new nib!
Please note: Certain styles—such as Cross and Cobra grinds—are currently unavailable due to material and tooling constraints.
